Sustainable development goals for attainment of vision 2030

Do you know that only 45% of University students in Kenya are aware of SDGs? This is according to a survey that was conducted by Tifa Research in conjunction with MK Africa. This is too much to low because the SDGs have been structured to accommodate the young people, in this context university students because they are critical thinkers, change makers, innovators and most important leaders.

The seventeen (17) Goals of SDG’s and the targets  of vision 2030 agenda re inter connected aiming to integrate 3 dimensions of sustainable development , economic, social and environmental. Explicitly or implicitly, young people are deeply embedded within their fabric, their knowledge reach and innovative solutions are therefore fundamental in realization of these goals.

Through My Little Big Thing, we, at the University of Nairobi seek to bring on board as many undergraduate students as possible as we define to them the value addition and value proposition of engaging directly with SDG’s. Its therefore be a big pleasure to enable students from all disciplines to seal the uneven progress that has been witnessed in terms of interlock forms of discrimination limited political inclusion, high levels of poverty and limited access to health systems, educational opportunities and decent jobs.

Under the able leadership of Prof. Peter M. Ngau, as the Patron and Osoro Collins as the Campus Director- University of Nairobi Chapter, the narrative will shift because students will now have a platform that will guide them through the SDGs , through a well thought of and inclusive curriculum from MK Africa.

It is with great pleasure to have My Little Big Thing launched at the University of Nairobi as it will take timely advantage of the University strategic Plan to provide skills to the students that will enable scaling up of the Government Big 4 Agenda.

I therefore  invite all the students from the University of Nairobi to join the club and welcome them to enjoin in finding solutions within SDGS, that are fun, simple yet sustainable. Students can reach me through my email, or my direct line 0791158722. Let us all come together to partner in this noble cause.
